A UPI AutoPay gaming mandate is a recurring payment instruction. It should be checked as a payment-system matter, separately from any question about whether an online money game, merchant or operator is legally authorised in India. NPCI’s primary record, checked on 29 August 2026, describes UPI AutoPay mandates, pre-debit notifications and controls to modify, revoke, pause or unpause a mandate. That record does not establish a gaming merchant’s legal status. Primary record: NPCI UPI AutoPay, checked 29 August 2026.

What a UPI AutoPay mandate means

A one-time UPI payment and an AutoPay mandate are different instructions. A one-time payment authorises a particular transaction. An AutoPay mandate is a recurring authorisation that can be viewed and managed through the participating UPI app, payer PSP or bank journey. The exact menu name and placement can vary by app; the available control, rather than a particular menu label, is the important point.

NPCI’s primary product record, checked on 29 August 2026, identifies customer controls to modify, revoke, pause and unpause mandates, along with pre-debit notifications. Treat the merchant name, merchant VPA, mandate reference, frequency, maximum amount and next debit date as payment records to verify—not as proof of licensing, approval or a lawful gaming service.

Payment eventWhat to recordWhat it does not prove
One-time UPI paymentDate, amount, UTR, recipient VPA and app confirmationThat a recurring mandate exists
UPI AutoPay mandateMandate ID, status, merchant VPA, frequency, limit and next debit dateThat the merchant is legally authorised
Pre-debit notificationNotification time, proposed amount, merchant description and mandate referenceThat the debit is correct or recoverable

How to find an active mandate in your UPI app

Open the UPI app used to approve the instruction and look for a menu labelled AutoPay, mandates, recurring payments or a similar payment-management term. If the instruction is not visible, check another UPI app linked to the relevant bank account, the bank’s own application and the bank statement. Do not create a new payment merely to investigate an old instruction.

Open the mandate details and compare the merchant description with the notification and bank record. Save or securely note the merchant VPA, mandate ID, status, amount limit, frequency, creation date, next debit date and any pre-debit notification. A record of the UTR is particularly useful for a completed debit. Screenshots can preserve what was displayed, but do not share UPI PINs, card credentials, passwords or full account details.

CheckWhy it matters
Merchant name and VPAHelps distinguish the payment recipient from a gaming brand or web address shown elsewhere.
Mandate statusShows whether the instruction is presented as active, paused, revoked or otherwise unavailable.
Amount and frequencyHelps identify whether a notification matches the instruction you remember approving.
Mandate ID and UTRGives the bank or payer PSP identifiers for investigation.

Can you pause or revoke a gaming-related mandate?

NPCI’s primary circular dated 7 October 2025 describes lifecycle controls including viewing, revoking, pausing and modifying mandates. It also states that payer-initiated operations require a UPI PIN. Primary record: NPCI circular dated 7 October 2025, checked 29 August 2026.

Use the mandate details in your UPI app and select the available pause or revoke action. Read the confirmation screen carefully before authorising it. A pause is a temporary control where the app offers that state; revocation is the stronger choice when you no longer want the instruction to remain available. Keep the confirmation reference and check later whether the displayed status changed.

Availability, timing and dispute handling may depend on the app, bank and payment participants. The dated NPCI records establish the described lifecycle controls, but they do not establish that a particular gaming merchant will accept a cancellation, refund a debit or hold any legal status in India.

Does revoking a mandate reverse an earlier debit?

No conclusion of automatic reversal follows from revoking a mandate. The NPCI primary records checked on 29 August 2026 describe mandate-management controls; they do not state that revocation reverses a debit already completed. For a completed transaction, record the date, amount, UTR, merchant VPA and bank account, then raise the matter with the relevant bank or payer PSP using its official complaint channel.

Separate three events in your notes: a mandate that was approved, a pre-debit notification and a debit that actually settled. This prevents a future-payment control from being confused with a transaction dispute. Do not describe a refund or recovery as achieved unless the bank, payment participant or merchant gives a dated confirmation.

What to do with an unknown mandate

If you do not recognise a mandate, preserve the notification, mandate details, merchant VPA, amount limit and account statement. Contact the bank or payer PSP promptly through its official channel and ask that the mandate and any related debit be investigated. Do not approve a new collect request or disclose a UPI PIN to someone claiming to arrange a reversal.

If money has moved through suspected financial cyber fraud, the primary NCRP record checked on 28 August 2026 identifies the official reporting route at National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP) and identifies 1930 for financial fraud. NCRP and 1930 are distinct from a bank transaction complaint, an RBI regulated-entity grievance and any state-law classification. More routing information is available at financial cyber-fraud and 1930 guidance.

When the RBI Ombudsman route may fit

The Reserve Bank of India’s primary record, checked on 28 August 2026, establishes an Ombudsman framework for eligible complaints involving regulated entities after the applicable first complaint process. It is not an adjudication route against an offshore gaming merchant and does not guarantee a payment outcome. Primary record: Reserve Bank of India Ombudsman framework, checked 28 August 2026.

Start with the relevant regulated entity’s complaint channel and retain the complaint number, date and response. If the matter concerns a UPI app, bank or other regulated payment participant, check whether the facts and procedural conditions fit the RBI route. Do not treat RBI escalation as a ruling that a gaming service is lawful, unlawful, fraudulent or entitled to a refund.

For practical routing, see RBI CMS and gaming-payment complaint guidance and report-and-complain guidance. These routes cannot substitute for a timely bank notification where an unauthorised debit may have occurred.

Payment controls are not a gaming legality test

Seeing a merchant in a UPI app, receiving a pre-debit notification or being able to create a mandate does not establish that the associated online money game is authorised in India. The NPCI AutoPay records checked on 29 August 2026 concern payment-system functionality and lifecycle controls, not a gaming licence or state-law classification. The RBI record checked on 28 August 2026 concerns eligible complaints involving regulated entities, not a general approval of gaming merchants.

Keep these questions separate: “Can I manage this mandate?”, “Was a debit authorised or disputed?”, and “What legal rules apply to this service?” The records available here answer only the payment-control and complaint-routing points described above. A precise legal conclusion requires a competent, current record for the relevant service, entity, jurisdiction and date; none is established by the AutoPay material alone.

A repeatable record-keeping method

  1. Capture the mandate screen and note the date and time.
  2. Record the merchant VPA, mandate ID, status, frequency, amount limit and next debit date.
  3. Save each pre-debit notification and distinguish it from a settled debit.
  4. For a settled debit, record the UTR, account, amount and date.
  5. Use the UPI app, bank or payer PSP complaint route before escalating where applicable.
  6. Use 1930 or NCRP for suspected financial cyber fraud, without treating that report as a finding of liability.
  7. Keep complaint references and responses together, and redact credentials before sharing documents.

This method records what the payment system displayed and what was reported; it does not independently prove merchant identity, gaming legality, fraud or recovery. The review uses primary records from NPCI, the Reserve Bank of India and NCRP, dated 28–29 August 2026. Operator statements and user-context reports, if encountered elsewhere, would remain attributed context rather than proof of a payment outcome or regulatory status.

Questions about UPI AutoPay gaming mandates

How do I find an active UPI AutoPay mandate in my app?

Open the UPI app used to approve the instruction and look for AutoPay, mandates or recurring payments. If it is not displayed, check the relevant bank application and statement, then ask the bank or payer PSP to identify the instruction. Record the merchant VPA, mandate ID, status, amount and next debit date. NPCI’s primary record checked on 29 August 2026 describes mandate viewing and related controls; it does not prove gaming legality.

Can I pause or revoke a gaming-related UPI mandate?

Use the pause or revoke control shown in the mandate details, if available, and retain the confirmation. NPCI’s primary circular dated 7 October 2025, checked on 29 August 2026, describes viewing, pausing, revoking and modifying lifecycle controls and states that payer-initiated operations require a UPI PIN. App and bank procedures may differ.

Does revoking a mandate reverse an earlier debit?

Not automatically on the records cited here. Revocation concerns the mandate instruction; a completed debit should be separately raised with the bank or payer PSP using the UTR, date, amount and merchant VPA. The NPCI records checked on 29 August 2026 do not establish a refund or recovery outcome.

When should an unknown mandate be reported to the bank or 1930?

Contact the bank or payer PSP promptly when a mandate or debit is unknown. If the event appears to involve financial cyber fraud, the NCRP primary record checked on 28 August 2026 identifies 1930 and cybercrime.gov.in as reporting routes. Use the bank complaint and cybercrime report as distinct records, and preserve the timeline and UTR.

Corrections and scope

For a factual correction or privacy concern, use contact, privacy and disclaimer information. The documented sources establish payment controls and routing boundaries only. They do not establish a gaming merchant’s Indian authorisation, a refund, a complaint finding or a safe payment outcome. Further methodology information is available at methodology and about.
